Vengathanam Waterfalls is one of the least explored waterfalls in Kottayam District, Kerala located near Chennadu Malika. Chennadu Malika can be accessed from Chemmalamattom (3km) or Erattupetta (11km). The Vengathanam waterfalls is a 3 step waterfall and the last fall cascades down to a depth of 70 ft. Even though it offers a breathtaking view of the falls its actually a dangerous site with no safety measures. The place does not have proper road access, so one has to either use 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler. There will be bus service from Erattupetta to Chennadu Malika though not frequent. The road from Chemmalamattom to Vengathanam waterfalls was recently reconstructed. Vengathanam waterfalls is also called Vengathanam peruthen aruvi or Chennad Waterfalls (possibly only in google maps). Vengathanam Waterfalls is not safe for bathing or any other activities as the rocks here are slippery all the time. So think twice before going near the waterfalls as security incidents have been reported repeatedly from there and It’s always advisable no to walk through slippery rocks at Chennadu waterfalls. We don’t suggest a visit to Vengathanam Peruthen Aruvi for a family trip with kids and elderly. If traveling with kids be cautious and proceed with safety measures.
