Kalvary Mount (Calvary Mount / Kalyanathandu)
Kalvary Mount, also known as Kalyanathandu or Pathammailu, is a beautiful hilltop in Idukki district, Kerala. At about 200 meters elevation, it is both a Christian pilgrimage site and a scenic viewpoint. From the top, visitors get a panoramic view of the Idukki Reservoir, Idukki Arch Dam, and the surrounding forests and hills.
This spot was once little known, but after the construction of the Idukki Dam, it became a popular destination. During the Lenten season, Kalvary Mount turns into a spiritual hub, with pilgrims walking up the hill in devotion.
The road to Kalvary Mount is winding and a bit steep, but the journey is filled with stunning views of valleys, forests, and rolling hills. At the summit, the cool breeze, birdsong, and drifting clouds create a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.
