Situated between two mountains in Mechal near Melukavu, Kottayam, India Kattikayam Waterfalls is about 2-3 kilometers from Illikkal Kallu. If you are coming from Illikal Kallu side, take the first left, which is also the crossroad towards Illaveezhapunchira & Vagamon. After crossing approximately 2kms, you need to take right towards a narrow road. Signboards are present there, but sometimes you may not notice them and will pass it for sure. The narrow road will last in another 100-200mm, and from where the road work is currently in progress Kattikayam Waterfalls lies in the heart of Thekkoy, Erattupeta near the famous Ilikkal Kallu. Being one of the less explored destinations in Kottayam district.
Kattikayam Waterfalls is an amazing tourist destination to spend some time at the feet of mother nature. One of the good place to spend your day.Risky to reach here as one has to trek around 1 KM from main road.Once you reach the destination you will really like the place and its ambiance.Its better to visit during Monsoon.You have to take extreme care while you are at the destination. Water flowing is very clear and cold..
Great place to visit with friends.I would say it's not ideal for a family visit mainly because of the way to the falls ,its really hard way down the hill to the fall and if you come with old people i don't think they can make the way back to the top, oh ya it's really tough.But any way the water fall is one marvelous artwork of the nature.There are no security gaurds or any of those life saving stuff so i would say don't get into the water if you don't know swimming well, there water is pretty deep here so you will die if you don't know swimming.
At December, January, February time will be the ideal time because on rainy sesaon the water
flow is very intense so you can't get in the water even in the shallow area, in summer the fall
will the microscopic. NB:ask locals where the fall is situated because you need to go
through a small path which you can't find on map.
