Keerimala


Keerimala is the cradle of the wind, the winds, which turns everything upside down. Keerimala is a hill station and a hamlet.  Wind blows at a speed around 35 km per hour at Keerimala throughout the year irrespective of the season and time. The hilltop also offers a panoramic view of Peruva and Koothattukulam towns of  Kottayam and Ernakulam district. Keerimala is one among the major attractions in.Peruva After traveling for short distance through the Peruva junction, you will reach Keerimala. Some time you would feel like traveling through chambal areas. 


Koorimala: A rocky area in the middle of the evergreen forest in Koorikadu wild life 
sanctuary and the highest point of the sanctuary (1540 m). It is the most beautiful area of this sanctuary and the toughest to reach. A watch tower provides simple 
accommodation, wildlife here is endemic to Western ghats,sambhar, Leopard, Wild gaur, Rodents, Wild Dog, Fox etc. Celylon Frogmouth, Hornbill, Emerald Doves, Shama, Crimson Barbet are some of the birds found here.  





Trekking from Perumbadavom to koorimala is a 3-hour journey. Trekking path is adventures that cover three small forest rangers, Vegetation ranged from hard rocky terrain, and grassland to wet tropical evergreen climate forest and shola forest. Halt at Korikkal
